More than a Kitchen—A Sacred Space for Joy, Nourishment & Service
Whether it is a Mediterranean feast, a local wedding celebration, a comforting winter soup, or a refreshing glass of homemade hibiscus juice on a summer day, the Azahara Kitchen, headed by Chef Nabil has been at the heart of community life here in the Andalusian Mountains. It serves as a gathering place where volunteers, locals, and visitors gather throughout the seasons to cook, share stories and explore traditional cuisines.
However, it is no longer sufficient to meet the needs of a growing community. During the summer, temperatures can soar to 45 degrees, making conditions extremely difficult —especially with ageing equipment. An upgrade is needed to ensure the space thrives and continues its heart-warming tradition of welcoming & feeding people.
With your support, we have already begun some of this work, led by a dedicated father-and-son duo, Shahid and Ahmed, with the help of our in-house technician and horse lover, Mujahid.
Your continued support will go towards:
The purchase of a new oven. Our current oven has served the community with delicious bakes, but its door is broken beyond repair.
New tiling and improvements to the kitchen’s plumbing, lighting, and air circulation.
The purchase of cooking, baking, and food storage equipment suitable for community-sized service.
